God Saw…Said Let there Be…It was so…and It was good!

Genesis 1:1-4
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

God Saw…Said Let there Be…It was so…and It was good!
Not too long ago I decided to have a pity party with a guest list of 1, Me! I entered the party room and listened to some of my favorite songs, “When Lord, When?”, “Why, Lord, Why?”, and “Will, I ever?” I’m sure you have heard some of those singles as they are at the top of the Pity Party Billboard charts. As I evaluated my circumstances I decided to step out of participation mode to evaluation mode to see how this party got started in the 1st place. I aligned each thought one by one and seen how they had slowly but surely taken me to a place of darkness and I now realized this was not a good or safe party to be at and it was time to escape! When I came to my senses and realized I was in a place I wasn’t supposed to be I was able to think God thoughts again and I was reminded of Elohim, God the creator.

In Genesis chapter 1 God saw a multitude of circumstances and for each one he had a solution. For starters he created an earth but seen that it was empty, formless, and dark. God was bigger than this and had a greater plan than a formless, empty dark planet. God was systematic in the way he created everything starting with “light”. God shed light in a dark situation. Within 6 days God created the times of day, seasons, land, water, vegetation’s bearing fruit, animals, and humans. God was so creative that His system was connected so that one thing was somehow needed by another. On day two God created the land and sea knowing that on day three he would create vegetation which is planted in land and needs the water of the sea. God saw His vision for creation, He said let there be and it was, and then he said “it was good!”

Now that I was back in the right frame of thought God reminded me that he sees the bigger picture. He sees all of my hearts desires, all of my longings, my hurts, and even things I can’t see like dangers ahead and doors that should remain closed. As I wait and feel like certain promises are tarrying I am reminded that God has a system in place. Something has to happen today, because of what God is going to orchestrate on tomorrow. God is a God of perfection and we know that every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). As I sit here I am clueless as to what God is up too. All I know is that he sees and he is at work letting things be. At this very moment He can be changing hearts and minds, He can be moving people out of the way, he may be causing what’s holding my blessings to let go right now. I may never know the behind the scenes of the journey to my blessings, but I can rest assure the puzzle pieces are being perfectly connected until His glory is revealed. Whatever the end result God will say “It is good!” Be Blessed and Encouraged.

Today we recognize you as Elohim creator of all things. Thank you that you sit up high and look down low and you see the circumstances we face. We stand on your promises of Hebrews 10:35-36 that we “not throw away this confident trust in you, Elohim. Help us to remember that you are systematically at work in our lives aligning each key piece to the puzzle and that you are faithful to give us what you promised. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Sharp Friendships

Proverbs 27:17 NLT
As iron sharpens iron,
So a friend sharpens a friend.

Sharp Friendships
Have you ever found yourself ready to use a knife or a pair of scissors only to find out they were too dull to carry out their purpose? You may try to use a dull pair of scissors to cut a paper item only to find out they either do more damage to the paper then good or not cut at all. Perhaps you may have used a dull knife to prepare food and you end up working harder to get the job done or having to find another knife to complete your task. In both scenarios the scissors are still scissors and the knife is still a knife. They are unable to function at its full potential. With the pressure of sharpening the objects with a like object they are able to sharpen the dull edges that held them back. As a result they may even shine a little brighter prior to cutting again.

Just as these iron objects have dull moments so do we in our lives. There are times in our lives we find ourselves down, depressed, heartbroken, feeling defeated, confused, don’t know what to do, can’t think straight, can’t pray, and it is times like these we need the asset of a good friend to call on that can support us, encourage us, and yes, sometimes fuss at us and correct us.

Genesis 2:18a says “It is not good for man to be alone.” We often hear this scripture in teaching on marriage partnerships. However I have also interpreted this scripture to also mean we need the fellowship of another human being. We need someone in our lives we can trust and be vulnerable with. We need a support system and a person we can call on when we are too weak to carry our own selves. It is during those weak moments that we can connect with wise counsel to help direct us on track and encourage us and pray for us in our time of need.

If you are one of those people that don’t like to open up or you keep everything in I encourage you to pray and ask God to send someone you can trust, a person you can be naked and unashamed with your emotions, a non-judgmental person that can offer wise counsel and encouragement, a person who can cover you in prayer and keep you before God until your change and peace comes.

Iron sharpens iron and sometimes the precious gift of a friend is needed to sharpen another friend. Be Encouraged.

Heavenly Father thank you for the gift of friendships. We thank you for those individuals you’ve sent in our lives to encourage and pray for us without casting judgment. For individuals who have no one to turn to I pray you will send an angel their way to help release the internal pressures of life into a safe place. In all circumstances we know that you are with us, you hear us, and you always provide what we need. In Jesus Name. Amen

The Post-It Note Ministry

Mark 16:15 NIV
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

The Post-It Note Ministry
About a year ago I completed a 26 week discipleship class at my church called “Master Life”. The purpose of the class is to equip individuals to become better witnesses for Christ and to equip us to literally master life through the word of God. When we first started the class the primary focus was on witnessing to others. The author of the book gave his personal accounts of witnessing to individuals in various public settings. I was a bit nervous about witnessing because I personally didn’t feel comfortable walking straight up to a stranger in a gas station or grocery store parking lot to talk about Christ. Now don’t get me wrong I LOVE talking about Jesus, but I was just not bold enough to do it the way the author discussed. My facilitators and class mates helped me to realize that there are multiple ways to witness other than just walking up to a random stranger. One class mate helped me to realize that I was already witnessing simply because I would post scriptures daily on my Facebook page. As we continued our dialogue we discussed so many ways we share Christ on a daily basis and don’t realize we are evangelizing. If you found yourself like I was and wanting to share Christ but not quite sure how, then I’d like to invite you over to an information session for “The Post-It Note Ministry”.

Ahhhhh…..the Post-It Note!!!! It comes in various shapes, sizes, and colors. If you were to visit my office it’s highly possible you would see my desk covered in them. I consider the Post-it note my non-salaried personal assistant because it does so many things for me. The Post-It note takes messages for me. The Post-It note gives me reminders. The Post-It note maintains my shopping list. Sometimes the Post-It Note is my safe place in a meeting to express my artistic abilities….or lack thereof. Yes, the Post-It note is multi-purpose! As I was standing in line at Target this past weekend I discovered another characteristic of the Post-It note….it evangelizes! I looked over to see a Post-It Note on fire for Jesus that reminded me that “God is with me” and on this day the Post-It note was working on behalf of the end counter!

God has called all of us who are saved to go out and tell the world the good news! If you are shy and not comfortable then, no, you do not have to randomly walk up to people to witness. You can start in your home or your work place with those that you are surrounded by every day. When I had a Facebook page I would post scriptures and devotionals. When you forward devotional e-mails you are sharing the good news. When you share your testimony of how you made it through a particular situation you are sharing the good news. I have seen so many things done. I have seen people leave their Bible on their desk or have scriptures posted in their office which sparked someone to ask “what does that mean?” I have seen tracks left at the grocery store and on my vehicle. I have been handed items in my hand when I was out and about somewhere, and now what I think is awesome is I was witnessed to by the Post-It note at Target!

There is a dying, hurting world out there that needs to hear the good news about our Lord and Savior. Do what you feel comfortable doing and share the good news today with another soul. No matter what method you choose, as the Post-It note reminded me “God is with you” when you share His word! Be blessed and be encouraged.

I am interested in hearing some of the creative yet effective ways you have witnessed to others, been witnessed to, or just observed as you were out and about. Please share your experience by leaving a comment. If you received Feevotionals via e-mail you can reply to the e-mail to leave a comment or you can click on the URL at the bottom of the page to go directly to the Feevotional to leave a comment on the website. Thank you!

Heavenly Father, thank you for your command to go out and tell the world about the gospel. For those of us that are shy or don’t know how give us a creative idea to tell another soul about you. Give us the strength and courage to talk to others about who you are to us and who you can be to them. Help us to remember when we first received you as our Lord and Savior and to remember that someone also witnessed to us to get us to where we are today. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Mega Wow!

Psalm 8:3
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place

Mega Wow!
I am overly excited today as I am still on a MEGA spiritual high after attending the Woman Thou Art Loosed (WTAL) Conference at MegaFest in Dallas, Texas this past weekend. I decided to attend the conference at the last minute and purchased my ticket a few days before the event sold out. I only had about a week and a half leading up to the conference and during this time frame I did not know what to expect. I packed my suitcase and my carry-on bag of issues, hurts, cares, concerns, and prayers and traveled by faith to see what the hype was about.

After the first night I completely understood why God sent me to Dallas, Texas to hear a mega word from Him. Bishop T.D. Jakes opened the conference and reminded us to “LIVE!” There are seasons in life where God has transitioned us from one place to another, but we can’t fully reap the benefits of where we are at because we are too busy holding on to where we came from. The next day Pastor Sheryl Brady reminded us to ”Get Our Fight Back!” There are times when life gets tough, God is quiet, and we are in waiting mode, but we have to fight with our faith and our praise until we get to where God desires us to be. Pastor Jasmine Scurlark informed me that I was pregnant and I didn’t even know it! My synopsis for her….buy the DVD! Our pain has a purpose. We often don’t know why we have to suffer sometimes but it’s our pain that births our purpose. By the time Dr. Jazz finished preaching there was not a dry eye in the American Airlines arena which was filled to capacity. By the time 9,000+ women finished praising God at one time I had to check the Dallas news reports to see if the roof was still on the American Airlines arena. It was just that powerful. Lastly, Dr. I.V. Hillard closed us out by reminding us to choose life! For every death option God has provided us with a life option. When we are faced with unwelcomed and unpleasant circumstances we have to remember to stand on the promises of God. For everything that we go through God has a promise for us to stand on!

My brief statements do not come close to describing the magnitude and the power I experienced during these four sermons. I repeat buy the DVDs! I went to Dallas with my own matters of the heart, my own hurts, and my own discouragements and wondering “when Lord, when”, but I left full of peace, joy, and hope! This truly was a mega experience like I have never experienced before. When I read Psalms 8:3 it almost describes my amazement with this event. “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place.” God created the universe. The universe I studied in grade school goes on for infinity. No scientist will ever capture every star or planet for our human eye to see. God placed every star, the sun, the moon, and the planets all in proper alignment. He placed the sun far enough where we won’t burn up, and close enough where we won’t freeze. And just like I can’t fathom how God could do all of that I can’t wrap my mind around how God took this one mega event, aligned all the preachers and the attendees and we all walked away with a tailor made word for us. I don’t know how God does it, but I can testify that each sermon made me feel like I was the only woman in the arena and each speaker personally new the matters of my heart. I don’t know how God does it where he places each speaker on one accord and each sermon sounded like it was the sequel to the next. I was so blown away by T.D. Jakes sermon that I promise it was the sequel to a sermon I heard at a woman’s event at my church earlier this year. I walked away thinking of all the women who walked away with their peace, hope and joy back. They walked away encouraged to hold on to their dreams. There were other woman who were set free from bondage. Other women who were healed in some capacity. The God we serve knew what each woman needed as she journeyed to Dallas, TX and He met those needs. I wasn’t at ManPower (the men’s conference) but from what I heard it was a similar encounter. This truly was a phenomenal experience and “Mega” probably can’t even describe how big it was.

I will never understand how God does what he does, but all I know is that He is sovereign. He is an amazing, powerful, all sufficient, all knowing, specializing in impossible situations God. As I journeyed back home I started thinking about how God orchestrated the events of MegaFest. I started pondering on my friends who have been in situations that only God could turn around. I mean dead, impossible, might as well give up situations….BUT God had the last say. My hope came that if God can do all of this for Mega Fest and if He can do all of this for my friends, then surely God can do it for me and He certainly CAN DO IT FOR YOU! Be blessed and be encouraged.

Heavenly Father when I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place my mind can’t grasp your power or sufficiency. We come to you thanking you today that you see all, you know all, and that you have a life giving outcome in all of our situations. We thank you for being the sovereign God that you are. Today we cast our burdens and our situations to you knowing no matter how long it takes and how quiet you may seem that you are working it all out according to your perfect will for our lives. We thank you for all that you are doing as we put our hope and trust in you. Lord, we also come with sadden hearts as we lift up all those effected by the stabbing incident at Spring High School in Houston, Texas on today. May you comfort and give peace to all those who mourn and all those who are shaken up by senseless violence. May your hedge of protection continue to surround each school that we send our children, educators, and administrators to and may you place a hedge of protection around them in their going and in their coming. In Jesus Name. Amen.
