Book Review: Seamless: Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story by Angie Smith

In the Fall I had the pleasure of taking a 7 week small group study on the book, “Seamless: Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story” by Angie Smith. When I first purchased the book I was trying to figure out how we would accomplish discussing the entire Bible in 7 weeks without having to read all day and all night. Well I am here to say we did. This was a phenomenal study that captured the Bible chronologically from beginning to end.

The study takes you on a glance of the Bible in a chronological format. It points out key stories and characters from each chapter that ties together God’s love story of redemptive history for all of us. I appreciated how she took the time to utilize various symbols to help put in better perspective what the biblical chapter meant to God’s story.

Some of the things Angie pointed out in this story I may not have gotten on my own. If you have ever gotten to that long passages of names and lineages in the Bible chances are we have in common that you breezed right past them as it may have gotten a tad boring to read. However, in this study Angie was able to point out the meaning of some of these pages that caused other areas of the Bible to come to life for me. She focuses on a lot of the details that we tend to overlook when we read our Bible.

This bible study is listed for beginners in the Christian Faith, however I believe it is ideal no matter where you are in your walk with Christ. This is for someone who has never read the Bible from beginning to end. This is for someone who struggles to understand certain things like the meaning of the geographic regions, lineages, and tribe names. Once I made it through this study it enhanced my understanding of various biblical stories.

If you are looking to gain more in depth knowledge of the Bible in a short period of time this is the book for you. Be blessed and encouraged.

You Are Victorious!

You Are Victorious!

Written by Felicia McKnight

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (‭‭I John‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Reminder today that you are a child of the most high God. He is a victorious God who conquered the enemy and His demons at the cross. No matter what challenges you may face today: financial, business, employment, health, relationships, flood waters, remember God is in complete and total control. Even in your own personal struggles. Perhaps you have issues with wrong thinking, habits, a repetitive sin habit you can’t break on your own remember God can, He is able, and He can break it. If you are saved and have received God as your Lord and savior then the Holy Spirit dwells within you. Scripture reminds us today that greater is He, the Holy Spirit, that is inside of you then he who lives in the world (sins, struggles, anything outside the will of God). Be reminded today you are victorious. You are an overcomer. You are more than a conqueror. You are powerful. You can break those sin habits. You have the Holy Spirit on your side. No weapon formed against you will prosper. You are redeemed. You are blessed. You have been set free and who the son sets free is free indeed. You were created in the image of God. You have the mind of Christ. In Jesus name. Amen

Heavenly Father, thank you that today we can call on you as Father. Thank you for your unconditional love for us. Thank you for choosing us to be your children. Thank you that our sins were redeemed at the cross. Thank you that victory was established at the cross. Thank you that today we can give all our burdens and struggles to you knowing you are the only one who can fix them. We surrender all to you today and ask you to do just that. Heal where we need healing. Provide where we need provision. Save souls that need to be saved. Save us in the area of sin we have gotten comfortable in. Break strongholds and chains today. Protect us and refresh us. We ask all these things knowing we are victorious through you. In Jesus name. Amen

Keep Pursuing Your Dream

Genesis 31:38-42 Amplified
These twenty years I have been with you; your ewes and your female goats have not lost their young, nor have I eaten the rams of your flocks. I did not bring you the torn carcasses [of the animals attacked by predators]; I [personally] took the loss. You required of me [to make good] everything that was stolen, whether it occurred by day or night. This was my situation: by day the heat consumed me and by night the cold, and I could not sleep. These twenty years I have been in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for [my share of] your flocks, and you have changed my wages ten times. If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and [the Feared One] of Isaac, had not been with me, most certainly you would have sent me away now empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and humiliation and the [exhausting] labor of my hands, so He rendered judgment and rebuked you last night.”

In Genesis 31 Jacob is fleeing from his father-in-law, Laban, because He has been cheated out of his wages for all of his hard work an effort.

“So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flock, And he said to them, I see how your father looks at me, that he is not [friendly] toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me. You know that I have served your father with all my might and power. But your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.” (‭Genesis‬ ‭31‬:‭4-7‬ AMP)

It sounds like the situation we have all been in. We have worked hard for our dreams to get to where we desire to be in life. We work hard and feel like we are not reaping what we should. Some of you are working on businesses. The money is not coming in yet. People have turned their backs on you. Some people have walked away from you and some people didn’t do what they said what they said they would do. Others are dealing with bosses who don’t reward you as you deserve for your efforts. Your dream of finishing school has hit a road block due to lack of support. Others have hit a stumbling block in advancing in your career. Whatever it is you are in the same position as Jacob with a basket full of dreams, hard work, labor, yet no real reward.

Be encouraged today that the same God in Genesis 31:7 is the same God for you today. God will not allow the enemy to harm or hinder you from your God ordained destiny.

“For all the riches which God has taken from our father are ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do it.” (‭Genesis‬ ‭31‬:‭16‬ AMP)

Whatever God has called you to do today and whatever dream He has placed in your heart I encourage you to keep pressing and pursuing. God is with you! He is a provider. He will meet every need for you to fulfill your destiny.

In verse 38 Jacob does what we do and list all the good things He has done out of faithfulness. He has exceeded expectations in his work performance and confronting His father in law. We have all been in this position. “Lord, I have worked for these people this many years and never seen a raise, bonus, or promotion. I am the best at what I do yet they always find fault. I deserve to be treated better than this.” Be reminded today God knows and He sees your faithfulness, your hard work and your efforts. In verse 38 Jacob also makes it known He was faithful working and exceeding expectations for 20 years. This lets us know his blessings didn’t come easy. He had to go through some things, overcome trials, and deal with the haters. He had hardship. He didn’t always received what He deserved. God sees your situation and we declare today the enemy in your life is rebuked in Jesus name!

“And if the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Dread [lest he should fall] and Fear [lest he offend] of Isaac, had not been with me, surely you would have sent me away now empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and humiliation and the [wearying] labor of my hands and rebuked you last night.” (‭Genesis‬ ‭31‬:‭42‬ AMP)

God is able! He is faithful! He rewards those that diligently seek Him! Keep your eyes on God. Hold on to His hope and promises. Any obstacle or hindrances that stand before you we call the devil the liar He is and speak God’s word against it. You are victorious men and women of the Most High God. You are prosperous. You are overcomers. You are successful, smart business savvy individuals. You are more than conquerors. Greater is He that is in you then he that is in the world.

It took 20 years for Jacob to get to this point. That goes to show the difference between failure and success is time, never giving up, and always giving your best efforts. Stay focused. Keep holding on to God’s unchanging hand and get ready for the wave of Ephesians 3:20 blessings coming your way. Believe by faith and receive in Jesus Name. Amen. Be blessed and be encouraged!

Heavenly Father, thank you for being the sovereign, faithful God that you are. Today, I lift up every individual with a God given dream in their heart. I pray that every dream will continue to flourish into a reality according to your perfect will. May every dreamer be strengthened to remain in a place of faith and continue to hold on to your unchanging hand. May every dreamer be reminded that though the vision may tarry to continue to wait for it as it will surely come to pass and not be a moment late. May every dreamer hold on to your promise that no plan of yours can be thwarted no matter how difficult the obstacles may seem. May every dreamer receive the open doors, support provision, strength, grace, and peace they need for their dream to become a reality. May their dreams flourish exceedingly, abundantly, above all every dreamer could ask or imagine. In Jesus Name Amen!
